Experience stories through creative alumni lenses in this event offered by Open Show Santa Cruz. Selected photographers will share their work and inspiration, & answer questions. Open Show organizes social events worldwide. Laurie & Allison have been co-producing Open Show Santa Cruz since 2016.
Allison Garcia (Kresge, ‘81) does community photography in Santa Cruz, shooting events, portraits, & stock photos for non-profit organizations, the City of Santa Cruz, & UC Santa Cruz. In 2018, Allison created an interview and photography project called, “Black Lives in Santa Cruz: What Matters” integrated onto the Santa Cruz County Office of Education’s Initiative for Racial Equity & Justice. In 2016, she brought Open Show to Santa Cruz.
Laurie Aiello (Kresge, ‘94) worked in Human Resources administration in the Bay Area and for UCSC Staff Human Resources, until leaving to raise a family. She does freelance photography, shooting events & family portraits, as well as doing volunteer work as an event photographer for a variety of local non-profit organizations. She joined the Open Show Santa Cruz team to help build community among local photographers.
